Start where it is safe, not where it is hard
Non-coders aren't afraid of programming — they're afraid of the appearance of it. Begin on a tool that never shows you the wall of symbols, and you'll absorb the vocabulary of the craft — database, function, front end — from doing, in a room the fear can't enter. By the time you finally see real code, it's just the novel you already learned to read.
Build confidence and vocabulary first. The hard stuff becomes easy once the fear is gone.
